Travel to Hong Kong and Macau: The Shopper’s Paradise

Hello Friends! Thanks to all of you for reading my Travel Blog. Today I am back to share will all of you about my Hong Kong and Macau travel experience from my travel memories. I finally made it last December when I travelled to Hong Kong along with my friend Niki. Macau was another destination that we visited during our Hong Kong Trip which is a world-famous tourist spot as well. Hong Kong and Macau travel plans were perfect for anyone. Travel to Hong Kong and Macau would be an ideal choice for a solo backpacker, romantic couple or a family looking for fun and adventure tours.

What attracted us?

As I always do, we started our search over the internet about everything related to our Hong Kong and Macau Tour. As we researched, we were amazed to find out that Hong Kong was initially a small fishing village. Today it’s a cosmopolitan with over 60 million tourists visiting every year. From Shopping to entertainment, from nightlife to luxury staying it has everything to offer any travel lover. Shopping in Hong Kong is so popular which nicknamed this beautiful city as “Shopper’s Paradise.” Niki got excited as shopping is her favourite hobby and she can spend everything shopping. Hong Kong is also Asia’s best shopping destination.

Macau is just one hour from Hong Kong and an exciting place to visit with a large number of cultural heritage sites to explore. However, the major attraction was to travel in a TurboJET ferry that runs from Hong Kong – Macau Ferry Terminal daily. This is a superfast ferry would take you to Macau within an hour’s time. Without any saying, we had planned a one-day round-trip ferry package to Macau from Hong Kong during our Travel to Hong Kong and Macau.

How we reached?

Now, we need to research a few more things like, finding out the Visa requirements, booking flight tickets, booking the hotel and planning our Trip Itinerary. The Internet is a great resource getting all these information at one place, and we jotted down everything together preparing the checklist. It was the month of December and an ideal time to visit Hong Kong, as the weather remains cool and pleasant during October to December month.

Hong Kong International Airport, Kai Tak at Chek Lap Kok is well connected with all major airports globally. There are hundreds of flights working on a daily basis making this as one of the busiest airports. All major airlines like Air Asia, Malindo, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, United Airlines and more has their direct or stopover flights working every day. We booked our flight during the night hours so that we can sleep and reach fresh early morning. Getting a Hong-Kong visa was very easy as Hong-Kong immigration department provides visa on arrival to most of the foreign tourists. For us, there was nothing to worry in that case. Finally, the day arrived, and we boarded the flight for our memorable travel to Hong Kong and Macau trip.

Post landing experience

After landing at the airport and clearing all immigration formalities we went outside and took a Taxi. We booked the “Royal Plaza Hotel” which was only a 40-minute drive from the Airport. The hotel was beautifully located in an area near to all major tourist attractions in Hong Kong. Once reaching the hotel, we received a gorgeous welcome from all the nice and friendly staffs. The rooms and hotel atmosphere was stunning that gave us an amazing feeling about this exotic city we are in. There was a business centre available to help a tourist with any information and we got much help from them during our luxurious stay. Hong Kong currency is Hong Kong Dollar and 1 HKD equals about seven USD. We always carry USD with us as it’s the most acceptable currency globally to get good exchange rates. Our hotel also had a money changer counter to help the tourist.

We want to rejuvenate ourselves for a few hours. We decided to relax in our luxurious rooms and enjoying the hotel amenities. We want to spend the entire day so decided to start our adventure tour from next day. Our top picks were LANTAU ISLAND that has various top attractions including DISNEYLAND. Other places we planned to visit were the OCEAN PARK, THE VICTORIA PEAK, VICTORIA HARBOR and REPULSE BAY.

Unlocking my Travel Memories: The Days we spent

After having a gorgeous breakfast from the hotel, we started our day tour visiting The Victoria Peak. This is the place from where we enjoyed the mesmerizing panoramic view of the entire Hong Kong City. The experience is so amazing I don’t have words to express it. We spend several hours gazing the splendid beauty and later moved on to see the nearby tourist attraction, Aberdeen Fishing Village.

The next day was a big day for us as we were on our way to enjoy the amazing rides at the Hong Kong Disneyland theme park. There are various packages available to choose from. This theme park has various entertainment points and thrilling rides which were worthwhile to visit. There was also a jungle river cruise among the adventure rides which was really fun. This theme park was located in the LANTAU ISLAND area having various other attractions. We could not cover those as it was late and we spend ample time inside the Disney theme park. It was once again a terrific day, full with excitement and unlimited thrill.

The next day we decided to Visit Macau and explore the city. For that, we booked the Hong Kong – Macau ferry round trip package costing only 140 USD per person. The ferry was supposed to leave from the Hong – Kong Ferry terminal at sharp at 9 am in the morning. Macau has over 25 top tourist attractions to explore. We hurried up and reached on time and boarded the ferry for a wonderful ride. Once we reached Macau in an hour, we have our tour guide with us to take us everywhere. We explored the Ruins of St. Paul’s, visited the Monte Fortress and the Senado Square. We also visited the Border Gate and had an amazing lunch at a local restaurant. Later during the afternoon, we visited the famous A-Ma Temple and the few world famous casinos. Our guide dropped us back to the ferry station and we were back to Hong Kong within an hour’s time. It was once again a terrific day and the remaining time we enjoyed relaxing at the hotels.

The last day we checked out from the hotel decided to enjoy the day with some elegant shopping. It was Niki’s day as she was pretty excited. There are a few famous shopping areas in Hong Kong. They are famous and rightly known as shopper’s paradise. You have here everything on this earth available. It was indeed a difficult choice to choose from where to enter and where not. Finally, Niki and I bought various kinds of stuff we liked. We were really tired of doing this kind of crazy shopping. The areas we visited for shopping were the Causeway Bay, Mongkok, Central and the Hollywood Road. From all these places we bought something that today I recollect from my travel memories.

See You Again Hong Kong

Finally, we arrived at the Hong Kong International airport to board our return flights. Both of us were refreshed with stunning memories and the unlimited fun we had during our travel to Hong Kong and Macau. All these refreshing feelings are locked inside my travel memories, and these are the secret treasures of my life that I am unlocking writing this travel blog.
